One thing I love about working with colored pencils is that they work well with a variety of styles and methods. While oil paints and chalk pastels are ideal for certain subjects and styles, colored pencils are a very versatile tool! Not only are they perfect for realistic drawings and studies, but you can also use them for coloring in coloring books or creating your own patterns and designs.

In this next section, we’ll get more playful with our colored pencils! While there are still some in-depth studies in this section, you’ll also find tips to help you loosen up, look for patterns in your everyday surroundings, and translate your studies and drawings into patterns.
