With the D700's large, three-inch, 920,000-dot VGA LCD screen, you can view your images with much more clarity than was possible with earlier Nikon dSLR cameras. Nikon also offers some different options on the D700 that aren't available on some of their other cameras. One option is the ability to view and show your images on an HDTV. The D700 also offers quite a few in-camera editing features that allow you to save some time in post-processing and give you the option to fine-tune your images for printing without ever having to download them to a computer.

Viewing Your Images

In the past, Nikon has always offered two different ways to view your images while the CompactFlash (CF) card is still inserted in the camera. You could view the images directly on the LCD screen on the camera or you could hook your camera up to a standard TV using the EG-D100 video cable that's supplied with the camera. Both options are still available with the D700, but now there is also a third option: You can connect your camera to an HDTV or HD monitor.

When viewing through an external device such as a TV or HDTV, the view is the same as would normally be displayed on the LCD screen. The camera's buttons and dials function exactly the same.
