It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Oracle Solaris 11 includes a number of different technologies to allow administrators to configure systems at scale within their data centers. The Service Management Facility (SMF) provides service and configuration management for systems. It is the foundation for applying configuration in an automated way at deployment time, and managing configuration seamlessly across system updates. With more and more system configuration being managed through SMF, a good understanding of how it works is essential.
