9 Area Under the Curve
Introduction
The definite integral can be used to find the area between a graph curve and the ‘x’ axis or ‘y’ axis between two given of ‘x’ or ‘y’. The area is called the area under the curve.
Area under the curve basically signifies the magnitude of the quantity that is obtained by the product of the quantities signified by the x and the y-axis.
The process of finding area of some plane region is called quadrature. In this chapter we shall find the area bounded by some simple plane curves with the help of definite integral. For solving the problems on quadrature easily, if possible first draw the rough sketch of the required area.
