What is Creativity?
This question about the nature of creativity is not easy to answer. Creativity is difficult to define and even more difficult to substantiate with empirical scientific methods. In the classical sense of the word, creativity is associated with thoughts and actions. In modern art and photography, creativity is aligned closely with originality. Whether it be ink paintings or the art of photography, creativity in reference to Zen meditation is certainly also an act of creation, but it does not originate in the mind. It stems, rather, from the whole being of the person. Creativity within the context of Zen is not forced or compelled to create something original.
