Chapter 8. Composites
Many nature photographers are initially loath to consider making composites, believing that this is somehow "cheating" or "dishonest." There is a clear need for photographers using Photoshop to be ethical and reveal when they have made changes to their images so that they no longer reflect the reality of what they saw and what existed. However, sometimes combining elements from several pictures can create more impact and be more representative of an experience. Ironically, compositing techniques can actually enable photographers to more accurately and realistically depict what they saw in certain circumstances, such as with a panorama, an exposure composite, or a focus composite.
