This chapter covers the procedures for raising project finance from private-sector lenders, in particular commercial banks (§5.2) and bondholders (§5.3), with a comparison between the two (§5.4). Lenders’ ‘due diligence’ processes, and the rôles of their various external advisors are also discussed (§5.5). §5.6 covers the ways in which a Contracting Authority interacts with bidders’ lenders in a public-procurement process.
