11. Using the UART

In this chapter, we are going to study the Universal Asynchronous Receive and Transmit (UART) module of the PIC18f4525. This is a very versatile module that a lot of systems use. We will look at how the UART can be used to communicate with an external terminal using a terminal software program such as Tera Term. We will communicate with the terminal using no handshaking and then with handshaking.
