When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
The iOS SDK
To write an iPhone application, you have to install Xcode and the iOS software development kit (SDK). This SDK is available free of charge from Apple’s website. To download the SDK, you must first register to be an Apple Developer. That process is also free. To get the appropriate links, you can start at developer.apple.com and navigate to the appropriate point. It’s a great idea to become familiar with that site.
The discussions in this chapter are based on Xcode 5 and the iOS SDK for iOS 7. Later versions of either should be compatible with what’s described here. If you notice your screens look different from those shown, you might be using a different version of Xcode. In that case, check the forum at classroomM.com/objective-c ...
