The XHTML Namespace
As already shown in Section 5.4.1.2 in Chapter 5, the XHTML namespace, http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml, is used to qualify an optional message
tag <html/>, which can be used to
carry a rich-text version of the message’s
<body/> contents.
Definitive information on the XHTML standard can be found at
http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml. As mentioned in Section 5.4.1.2 in Chapter 5,
this namespace qualifies tags within
<message/> elements that are
optional. Jabber clients do not have to support rich-text
formatting. If they do, a number of XHTML elements are required, and a number are
optional. The protocol documentation section
on Jabber’s central documentation site at
http://docs.jabber.org
has full details.
