Chapter Eight. The Comprehensive Perl Archive Network

We have seen that Perl comes with many built-in functions. This set of functions has been extended by those provided with the Standard Perl Library that is shipped with any standard download of the Perl system. We have seen how to extend this wealth of functionality with our own home-grown functions.

Beyond this functionality, there is a repository of Perl modules and documentation that you can download form the Comprehensive Perl Archive Network, more commonly referred to as CPAN. This section deals with the format and the information contained in these archives.
