Chapter 2 provided information on problems with the educational system. It explained how much of the university teaching is teaching-centeredoriented, that is, it involves lecturing, and how lecturing mainly addresses lower learning levels. It also explained how learning-centered-oriented approaches may provide a solution to the limited improvements that have been observed in student performance on critical thinking, analytical reasoning, problem-solving, and writing.
