Projects that Contribute to Practice

As was explained in Chapter 4, there are different types of projects. This chapter deals with projects that contribute to practice. This means that they have a real, or imagined, client and often deals with researching solutions to problems or alternatives, or opportunities. The chapter is an extension of the previous two chapters that covered teams and the general research aspect. In Chapter 3, the five basic process of projects were covered, and it was shown that these processes apply in different types of environments, although the sequencing of these processes may differ; see also Figure 3.5.
