Projects and programmes have certain key, and fundamental, parameters that help
define them. There is no single list of these parameters, and dierent initiatives will have
a dierent focus on which parameters best define them. The following is a general list:
● The need for the project or programme, and the definition of the problem, to be
solved or the opportunity to be realized
● The business outcome required
● The benefits to be realized if the business outcome is achieved
● The initiative’s scope, budget, schedule and quality standards
