Chapter 4The Crown Jewels
Dylan knocked on the slightly open door to Donna's office. “Is this still a good time to talk?” he asked. Donna was wearing a large pair of noise-canceling headphones and typing on a large manual calculator that printed numbers on a receipt as she typed. Dylan took two steps in and waved to get her attention.
“Dylan? Hello,” Donna said, peering over papers arranged neatly into stacks that reminded Dylan of a 3D rendering of a map of downtown. She took off the headphones and said, “Perfect timing, I was just finishing up. Please have a seat.” A small circular table near the entrance was covered with stacks of binders. The topmost binder read “2021 Audit Report.”
“How is Project Zero Trust going?” she asked.
“It's been a couple weeks, but we're starting to make progress. But the consultant kicked me out and said I needed to go figure out how the business makes money. Isabelle suggested I should start with you,” Dylan said as he sat down in the chair next to the circular table.
“That's quite the consultant you've got there. What do you want to know?” Donna asked.
“I know we have pretty good margins on each TreadMarch. Then there are the work-appropriate workout clothes. The monthly subscription is another big part of that. Zero Trust needs to be able to protect and enable the business at the same time,” Dylan explained.
“What about that hacker?” Donna asked as she walked around the desk to sit in the chair next to Dylan.
