Historical Timeline

As often as possible, we have presented the quantum story in the sequence in which it originally unfolded. For reasons of clarity, however, this was not always the prudent choice. When it meant presenting a clearer picture of the science, we traveled through time as needed. Nevertheless, a purely historical reading is interesting and insightful in its own right. For this reason, we present highlights along the road from the Greek atomos to the 2013 Nobel Prize in physics.
