The term rationalization presupposes something irrational, which inherently opposes the laws of logic and reason. Such irrational elements may pertain to a variety of fields, such as personal emotions, traditional beliefs and mythological stories. Common to all is a lack of reflection: One feels or believes the way one does without rendering account to people who do not share the basic assumption that such emotions or beliefs are acceptable. Irrational patterns are not examined with regard to their efficiency or contribution to society.
