- Halogen-quartz:
Incandescent lamp with tungsten filament and filled with a mixture of halogen gas and vaporized quartz. The gas glows brightly and helps prevent the filament from combining with oxygen so as not to burn up at high temperatures. Chapter 6.
- Handle:
Extra footage on either side of a clip for use in creating fades and other types of transitions. Chapter 11.
- Hard light:
Bright illumination emanating from a point source, such as a single, bare lamp; causes sharp shadows. Chapter 6.

- Head:
