The concept of directionality applies to technologies and tools other than C2, such as VPNs. Traditional VPN setups follow a client-to-server model: Clients connect through a VPN server to access the internet or a private network. However, you can flip this model around as part of an offensive security strategy, having the server connect back to the clients in what’s known as a reverse VPN tunnel.
