It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Application Consolidation in Exadata
The data center has evolved considerably since the mainframe era. In those days, dedicated silos of hardware and software were built for each application, which made it easy to provide predictable levels of service—unless, of course, there were wild peaks in load. However, it also meant that hardware and software had to be overprovisioned to meet peak demands. It was difficult to scale as the application’s, demand grew, often requiring forklift updates and the associated downtime.
