Recipes for Suet
Basic Suet Mix
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup shortening
1 cup flour
3 cups cornmeal
1 cup cracked corn or hen scratch
Slowly melt shortening and peanut butter in a large saucepan on low heat. Stir in other ingredients slowly. Pour into aluminum pie tins and let cool.
You can add one small handful of black oil sunflower seeds and/or mixed seed (optional).
Birdy Suet Mix
1 cup chunky peanut butter
2 cups ground oatmeal
2 cups oatmeal
1 cup shortening or rendered suet
⅓ cup sugar
1 cup white flour
Melt the shortening or suet and peanut butter on low heat until melted in a large saucepan. Stir in the other ingredients one at a time. Pour into aluminum pie tins and set aside to cool.
