11.1 Introduction
A traffic system involves the complex task of integrating information and communication technology (ICT) and the Internet of things (IoT). A traffic control algorithm works on scheduling algorithms and monitors traffic movement. The communication is carried out using single-cast, broadcast, multicast, and other cast communication methods [1]. This involves centralized and decentralized architectures. Traffic management plays a vital role in structuring SCs. In this chapter, a few case studies are shown of road accidents caused by various reasons such as environmental factors, drunken driving, poor education, and age. SC models and traffic congestion prediction algorithms are discussed.
11.2 Traffic Management for Smart Cities
The system of smart traffic management is where centrally controlled traffic signals and sensors regulate the flow of traffic through a city in response to demand. Traffic management systems (TMSs) for SCs encompass wide components that include the collection and processing of real-time traffic data, traffic monitoring platformsand traffic control systems for traffic signs, and digital road signage systems. The primary purpose of SC is to address rampant urban congestions. A real-time dynamic TMS intelligently navigates automobiles to optimize traffic ...
