Abstract

The focus of this work is to highlight general overview of reliability and resiliencies of smart cities and their devastating challenges which includes security, energy consumption, and need for controlling huge amount of data that can be done by the use of blockchain technology through the integration of smart sensors, Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and powerful software. Its benefits are to both dwellers and managers involved in the smart cities development. Apart from the problems and solutions of smart cities that are related to technology, other related challenges hindering its development are lack of intervention from policy-makers, funding, skilled workforce, and existing gap between industries and academia. Therefore, there is an urgent need to invest hugely to the sector, equipped it with enough skilled manpower, as well as special fund package to support both small- and medium-scaled industries.
