Christine Romans is CNN's Chief Business Correspondent and anchor of Early Start with John Berman and Christine Romans weekday mornings on CNN. Romans has covered some of the most important stories of our time: the tech bubble and bust; the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001; the stock market crash of 2008; two hurricanes; four presidential elections; and every conceivable market move in between.
She has hosted CNN hourly specials on everything from Bernie Madoff, in Madoff: Secrets of a Scandal to the decline of the U.S. auto industry, in How the Wheels Came Off, the state of the American Dream, and In God We Trust, an examination of faith and money in the wake of the financial crisis.
Smart Is the New Rich: Money Guide for Millennials is her third book. In 2010 she published Smart Is the New Rich: If You Can't Afford It—Put It Down, and two years later she coauthored How to Speak Money: The Language and Knowledge You Need to Know Now with Ali Velshi.
Romans won an Emmy award for her work on the series Exporting America, about globalization and outsourcing U.S. manufacturing and high-tech jobs overseas. She has been honored for her work by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), the National Foundation for Women Legislators, and the Alliance for Women in the Media, and twice by her alma mater, Iowa State University.
