I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
1.3 What Are Software Architecture and Software Design?
The emergence of the term architecture in the context of software development dates back to the 1960s, and the term as such still has no standardized definition. However, what the various definitions have in common is that they describe an architecture as an abstract representation of the basic structure of a software system, including its components and their interactions with each other.
Paul Clements co-authored a book called Documenting Software Architectures: Views and Beyond, which includes the following definition of software architecture:
