23 Introduction to the Perspective Catalog

Part IV is devoted to descriptions of a number of perspectives. We describe the perspectives listed in Table 23-1 in detail, with a chapter devoted to each. We have chosen to explore this set of perspectives more thoroughly because we have found that the quality properties addressed by them are crucial to most information systems.

We outline the perspectives listed in Table 23-2 in the final chapter of Part IV. We have chosen to explore these perspectives more briefly than the others for reasons of space and because, although they are often important, we have not found them as universally applicable as the ones listed in Table 23-1.
