Introducing Live Effects

Live effects, often abbreviated to “effects” for simplicity, join strokes and fills as the third category of attributes that makes Fireworks vector paths visible. Effects are among the quickest ways to create common special effects used on the Web, including drop shadows, bevels (for buttons), glows, and many others.

Caution

No other program can render Fireworks Live Effects on vector objects. To maintain their appearance in other programs, the graphics first have to be rasterized.
