analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) A general linear model which blends ANOVA and regression, where the regression is used to control for a confounding variable. Also see F-test.

analysis of variance (ANOVA) A statistical method used to test differences between two or more means on a continuous dependent variable. Also see F-test.

Bayesian statistics Inferential statistics built on probability theory, in particular, Bayes Theorem, which provides a means by which probabilities may be updated based on additional information.

binary variable A variable that takes only two values, often coded as 0 and 1.
