You can download R from the Comprehensive R Archive Network (CRAN) site at http://cran.r-project.org. You can get the R engine for Windows, Linux, or macOS X. Microsoft also maintains its own R portal, the Microsoft R Application Network (MRAN) site at https://mran.revolutionanalytics.com/. You can use this site to download Microsoft R Open, the enhanced distribution of open source R from Microsoft. After installation, you start working in an interactive mode. You can use the R console client tool to write code, line by line. As you already know, there are many additional tools.
