The case studies in the first seven chapters of the book suggest that many cities suffer from Silicon Valley envy, fueling a desire to build their own startup hubs. City leaders realize that they do not know where to begin but they often bring in people from Silicon Valley to advise them. And from there, such cities often use government resources to lure entrepreneurs from outside the region and/or to encourage local entrepreneurs to start companies in the city rather than moving to a more well-established city.
