I HAD A FAIRYTALE upbringing. My parents loved me. My friends liked me. Even my brother tolerated me (apart from the time I stabbed him with a picnic fork after he made Barbie do unspeakable things to Action Man). Overall, I enjoyed a childhood stuffed with love, encouragement and laughter. So far, so good.
So how is it that I turned into an adult who made such hideous choices about personal relationships? How can I have been someone who felt blindingly confident about work and friendships and yet ended up with such low expectations about love?
