One of the most asked questions I have had is, “Can I mix different storage arrays in my vSphere environment?”
The short answer is “yes!” This chapter explains why and how.
vSphere 5 as well as earlier releases support a maximum of 1024 paths to storage (see the “Factors Affecting Multipathing” section in Chapter 7, “Multipathing and Failover”). This number of paths is the combined paths to all devices presented to the ESXi 5 host from all storage arrays, including local storage and direct attached storage.
