5 Location and Distribution Decisions in Supply Chains

Next, we discuss some basic results in continuous location models and how they relate to supply chain network design. Then, we discuss briefly the design of closed loop supply chains, which are used for recycling and refurbishing of consumer products returned by customers. We conclude this chapter by presenting several real world case studies in supply chain network design and distribution problems. We also discuss how the supply chain optimization models presented in this chapter are not only applicable to the manufacturing industries, but also to the service industries.
