Install and Use Other Operating Systems

The vast majority of Parallels Desktop users run full versions of Windows in their virtual machines, but if you need to run a different operating system—including Linux, macOS, and special trial versions of Windows—this chapter provides a quick introduction to installing and using them.

Add Free Systems

Parallels Desktop can run various free, open-source operating systems (including Chromium OS, Android, and numerous versions of Linux) from prebuilt, downloadable images. These are shown at the bottom of Parallels Wizard (Figure 71) when you choose File > New.
