Use a Third-Party Camera App
Throughout this book I’ve stuck with Apple’s included Camera app because that’s what most people use. Apple makes it easy to open it (see All the Ways to Open the Camera App) and it takes great photos in nearly all situations.
So why consider a third-party app? Control. Apple’s Camera app is designed with 99 percent of people in mind, so it automatically handles aspects such as focus and exposure. You can Tap to Focus and Control the Exposure to some extent, but not at the precise level that some photographers would prefer. Third party apps offer features such as true manual shooting modes, the ability to capture raw files, and more.
