Building and Playing a 3D Puzzle

In this chapter, we will once again be putting our skills to the test as we design and build a 3D puzzle! This practical application will not only allow us to strengthen our skills in using Tinkercad to design models for 3D printing, but also look at some tools and methods for effective design which have not yet been discussed. These challenges will be broken down into the following topics:

  • Making the pieces
  • Making the joint template
  • Adding the joints
  • Incorporating artwork
  • Preparing, exporting, and manufacturing the puzzle

As we use our design and modeling skills, we must also consider how this project can be designed to make it challenging for the user to play so that it may be an effective product. This ...
