Collaborative coaching is an effective, respectful approach
Collaborative coaching is effective because of the underlying principles that support it, namely:
- The relationship is based on equality, which encourages openness and trust. The coach does not claim to have all the answers and the coachee feels their contribution is valuable.
- The coachee appreciates being really listened to and the effort the coach makes to understand them.
- Coaching conversations have a clear emphasis on enquiry, and the coach works to facilitate the coachee’s understanding of their situation in order to increase awareness and surface insight or clarity.
