In an ideal world an interview would be conducted with two cameras, one dedicated to the guest and one to the interviewer. The great advantage of conducting interviews in a studio or in an outside broadcast is the access to two or more cameras and the ability to switch instantly between them. With location shoots generally one camera has to suffice. Speed of operation as well as cost considerations dictate this. In all events documentary style programmes depend on a long period of post production and the final shape of the programme will emerge in the cutting room or editing suite.
