Africa

Botswana

Ad valorem (a percentage of defined revenue) 3 to 10 per cent. Precious stones 10 per cent, precious metals 5 per cent, other 3 per cent.

Ghana

Ad valorem 5 per cent.

Mozambique

Ad valorem 3 to 12 per cent. Diamonds 10 to 12 per cent, other 3 to 8 per cent; rate negotiable; artisanal miners exempt.

Namibia

Ad valorem 5 to 10 per cent. Uncut precious stones 10 per cent, other maximum 5 per cent.

South Africa

Ad valorem 1.5 to 4 per cent. Lower rates apply to refined product.

Tanzania

Ad valorem 0 to 5 per cent. Diamonds 5 per cent, cut and polished gemstones 0 per cent, other 3 per cent.

Zambia

Ad valorem 2 per cent. Small miners exempt; no royalty for local processing.
