SELLING YOUR FILM
Distribution is the act of licensing the film to exhibitors, broadcasters, and other parties in exchange for a fee or participation in the film’s revenues. Distributors put films in movie theaters, on television networks, on Netflix and Hulu, and on Blu-Ray discs sold at big box stores. But distribution is also the process of putting your film on YouTube, Amazon Prime, or even your own website. In short, distribution is the economic engine for filmmakers, because without distribution, your film will not make money.
