I can’t believe the first edition of The Prop Building Guidebook came out over ten years ago. Though you can still learn how to build props from it, many things have evolved since then. Our world, especially the world of live theatre, has gone through some seismic shifts since then. I felt it was vital to revisit this text and bring it up to date.
I have spent the past several years teaching props, and that has provided a lot of clarity in how I present material to students. I made some hefty structural changes to this book so that the order of the chapters makes more sense and so that important concepts do not get bogged down in technical minutiae.
