Sharing accounts might not be the best approach. When you share an account, you are stuck using a shared home directory, which might lack the customizations you’d want. Using tmux’s support for sockets, you can create sessions that multiple users can connect to with ease. This way, each user has their own home directory and set of files, but they can still collaborate through a shared tmux session.
To test this out, create two new user accounts for the session: one called ted and another named barney:
| | tmux@puzzles$ sudo adduser ted |
| | tmux@puzzles$ sudo adduser barney |
Next, create a tmux group and a /var/tmux folder that will hold the shared sessions.
| | tmux@puzzles$ |
