Acknowledgments
There are so many people to thank. My life has been filled with wonderful experiences, mentors, friends, and families. I am blessed in so many ways.
Relating to the writings in this book, I can't thank Secretary Carson enough for the leadership, wisdom, and guidance he provided, not only to me but to everyone at HUD. He is a remarkable man and will always be one of the most admired men in the world. I also thank Andrew Hughes for the weekly phone calls during the courtship period. Being a chief of staff of a cabinet agency is no easy task, and his polite and gentle persistence was a key factor to HUD's success. I also thank Brian Montgomery for his counsel and mentorship at HUD. He is deeply experienced within the walls of the Beltway, and I could listen to Brian's stories all day long. I'm glad we are all still in touch.
I owe a huge debt of gratitude to all the people of Office of the CFO. The willingness to think differently and embrace a new way forward was key to HUD's financial transformation. A very special thank you to the following OCFO leadership team for engaging in our mission and leading the way. It was an extraordinary team effort.
