Too often we hear things like "The database has performance problems!" Sometimes this is true, sometimes it is not. Personally, I have no problem with these kinds of statements. More often than not, however, people make such statements without looking into the problem first. In other words, the problem is arriving at a conclusion without careful analysis. To identify a performance problem, an open-minded approach is absolutely necessary. Instead of judging the actual situation based on opinions, feelings, and preconceptions, we must base our statements on evidence.
