Part V
OTHER APPROACHES
This final part of the book contains two fairly lengthy chapters that look at some alternative approaches to the question of type inheritance. Let me apologize immediately for the fact that these chapters might both appear quite complicated, and especially for what might seem to be an excessive number of asides and footnotes. Naturally I’ve done my best to explain the subject matter as clearly as I can; but (as I said in the preface) it seems to me that the complexities are innate; I mean, I believe the chapters are complicated because the material they describe is complicated. Certainly I’ve tried hard not to introduce any additional complications, over and above ones that are intrinsic to what’s being described.
