So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Chapter 5. Oracle Database High Availability: Planned and Unplanned Downtime
High availability (HA) refers to the design attribute that determines the percentage of time an application, database, or server is accessible to its users. Availability is an intrinsic aspect of the implementation of a specific service that pertains to the percentage of time that particular service is capable of providing functionality to its users. It is often the most important aspect of a service level agreement (SLA). Database architects factor this into the system design to protect business critical operations from both unplanned downtime (an outage due to infrastructure failure) and possibly planned downtime (an outage required for system maintenance).
