As the Internet has grown beyond its research and academic origins, it has become evident that privacy and security services to the data or audio user have been lacking. Fortunately, in the past few years, this situation has changed dramatically, and a wide range of security measures are now available. This part of the chapter provides a summary of some of the principal security protocols available. Several of these systems are used by H.323, MGCP, and IPS7 nodes, described in Chapters 9 and 10.
