The following chapter provides some insight into the standards development process of the W3C. Other standards organizations, such as OASIS and the WS-I, have also provided significant contributions to the Web services community. This brief discussion is limited to the W3C only because it is the organization responsible for producing all of the primary technology standards covered in this book.
