Pseudo schemas provide a representation of elements and attributes from different languages via a common industry-standard expression syntax based on a special set of symbols. This format is helpful for reference purposes to provide an abstract view of a given component that explains how it can be potentially structured and populated.

The symbol convention used is as follows:

  • The ? symbol indicates that a component can occur zero or once.
  • The * symbol indicates that a component can occur zero or multiple times.
  • The + symbol indicates that a component must occur once or multiple times.
