Appendix a: Using Developer Tools
Xcode 5 includes a small selection of extra developer tools. Some tools, including the Application Loader, the Simulator, and Instruments, are described in detail in the rest of this book. The remaining tools are a grab bag of extras that are worth exploring. They are specialized rather than essential, but for certain applications, they can save significant time and effort.
Finding the Developer Tools
The built-in tools appear under the Xcode ⇒ Open Developer Tool menu, shown in Figure A.1. Selecting an item launches the tool. Most run as separate applications.
Understanding the Tools
The Instruments tool is described in detail in Chapter 17. The Simulator and Application loader are described throughout this book. The remaining tools are introduced in this Appendix.
